UBISOFT JOINING WEMIX BLOCKCHAIN NODE COUNCIL

Ubisoft, the publisher of popular games like Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six: Siege, is partnering with Korean game publisher WeMade as a member of their Wemix blockchain node council. Ubisoft will be one of the 40 partners running validator nodes for the new 'Wemix 3.0' network, which operates on an Ethereum-compatible EVM blockchain. Previously, Wemix's blockchain was on the Klaytn mainnet and has now been renamed 'Wemix Classic'. The new Wemix blockchain uses a proof-of-stake authority consensus algorithm.

ALL NODE COUNCIL PARTNERS FOR WEMIX

All Node Council Partners (NCP) will run Wemix nodes to validate the blockchain. Ubisoft is joining as the 26th partner out of the total of 40 partners announced so far. Ubisoft has been an early adopter of blockchain gaming and has invested in the crypto industry. In 2021, the company added free in-game NFTs to its Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint game and faced backlash from gamers. However, Ubisoft continued to explore crypto opportunities and became a node operator for the Hedera and Cronos blockchains in 2022 and 2023 respectively. Last year, the company also teased its first blockchain game, Champions Tactics, and launched the game's first free NFT mint, which saw significant trading volume within hours.
